Most charter flights allow 15–20 kg of luggage, so soft-sided bags are recommended for effortless travel.

General Luxury Safari Tips

Most luxury lodges offer excellent laundry services, allowing you to pack lightly. Neutral colors such as beige, olive, and cream blend naturally with the environment and enhance comfort during warm afternoons.

Lightweight fleece or soft-shell jacket for early mornings.
2–3 breathable short-sleeve safari shirts.
2–3 long-sleeve shirts for elegant layering.
2–3 pairs of tailored lightweight safari trousers.
2 pairs of premium safari shorts.
Wide-brimmed safari hat and high-quality sunglasses.
Comfortable walking shoes or luxury travel sandals.

Other Considerations

Carry a small personal first aid kit with essential medications such as antihistamines, pain relievers, nausea tablets, antacids, and motion sickness medication especially if flying in small bush planes.
Pack sunblock and lip balm, especially if you will be using open safari vehicles where sun exposure is stronger.
Ensure you receive all recommended vaccinations before traveling. Bring proof of vaccination and consider malaria prophylaxis (recommended for most safari regions).
Bring a DEET-based insect repellent. During high mosquito seasons, pretreat your clothing with permethrin spray.
Cameras Smartphones take great photos, but for better zoom range, a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a 100–400mm lens is ideal. Bring extra memory cards, a spare battery, and note that Proud Safari & Tours vehicles have charging ports.
Binoculars We provide 1–2 pairs in every vehicle, but bringing a personal pair (10x magnification recommended) is helpful for larger groups.
Electrical adapter Tanzania uses the Type G plug (same as the UK). Carry at least one adapter for convenience.
